Ambient-Background noise used to create a certain atmosphere(children laughing a playground and used for nostalgia)
SFX- used to highlight and exaggerate a certain thing(falling to the ground and door shutting)
Mood-the atmosphere of the scene(moody happy grumpy
Tone- harsh or soft tone of sound or dialogue
Genre- the type of film it is(action,comedy,crime,drama)
Theme Music- The most important music in the film to set the scene(tense music to set a tense scene)
Voice over-added narration to describe what is going on(when dialogue can not explain)
musical score- music that is played throughout the film(instrumentals)
Synchronous sound- when a sound effect is paired with another technical feature or action this builds up the effect.
Asynchronous sound_ when a sound does not fit in with the diegetic reality of the film like a music soundtrack.
Contrapuntal- sound effects and noise that don't fit in with the film or match the visuals often used to give an alternative meaning.
Silence- Can be used to exaggerate an event
